Since 1998, the Society for International Development and the Institute of Economic Affairs have been collaborating on a project which, through scenario building exercises, sought to stimulate debate and conversations about possible futures that Kenya might face in the coming years. The idea was that these conversations would not only challenge, but also influence the thinking of all who came into contact with the scenarios. The process of building the scenarios was spread over a year and included a period of comprehensive research and analysis which was then fed into a series of workshops held around the country between October 1998 and October 1999. The project has resulted in various outcomes including a multi-media presentation kit, a booklet presenting the scenarios as well as a research compendium which details the research carried out. The Kenya Scenarios Project is part of a larger initiative - the 'Futures Programme' of the Society for International Development. |
